Mongols have called ancient Ugra land as silver antiquity, mother "Sebir" - the country of forests. Inhabitants of that country have been dressed in animals’ skins, eaten meat and fish and moved along "eternal snows" by skiing and called themselves Khanty and Mansi.

At present Ugra consists of oil-derricks, pipelines, highways, modern airports and establishments, tourism, hotel, restaurant and entertainment complexes.

Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra is a rapidly developing region, taking one of the first positions in the country regarding the volume of investments. Okrug Government pays much attention to tourism industry development, staking on the event, sports, ethnographic, hunting, fishing and cruise tourism. International winter sports competitions have become traditional in Khanty-Mansiysk.

Scales of tourism objects construction are amazing. Government of the Autonomous Okrug is developing young and perspective branch of regional economy - tourism with responsibility and  progression. Center of arts for talented children of the North, Skiing Center, Hotel complex "Yugorskaya Dolina", "On Seven Hills"., entertainment complex "Pioneers' Territory" with the bowling center, entertainment complex "Langal" with the cinema hall, sushi bar, theatrical & concert complex, palace-pavilion "Gostiny Dvor" are built in Khanty-Mansiysk.

It is hard to overestimate the wealth of the Okrug flora and fauna, iniquity of many natural factors, including underwater thermal sources.

Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra is a unique place where the monuments of ancient history, towns, burial grounds, archeological complexes and vast taiga expanses are situated.

Small-in-number peoples of the North, preserving their unique culture and following ancient traditions and laws, settle on our vast territory.

Grand events and international and Russian events as follows are held in the Autonomous Okrug: festivals, contests, sports events. It is a basis for in-bound and out-bound tourism development in the Okrug.

Everyone must visit Ugra land to feel the joy of meeting with wonderful nature, to fill the heart with beauty and virtue.
