Civil patriotic upbringing

This direction is aimed to aimed to form civil and patriotic relations to the Motherland, respect to its history, culture, traditions, consideration for nationhood of Russia on the whole, to improve civil and patriotic confession and youth's behavior; to contradict extremist behavior in youth environment; to form tolerance; to develop intercultural and international communication, friendship, youth's readiness to protect their Motherland.

At present Coordinative Council on civil and patriotic education of youth functions in the Okrug. Basic directions of activity on civil & patriotic education are as follows:

• development of system of patriotic education in the Okrug;
• education and development in citizens' mentality, since children's age, feeling of patriotism, a civic duty, public interests;
• provision of active participation of family, school, public and state institutes in the patriotic education,
• coordination of state, municipal structures and departments activity;
• formation of a complex of legal, organizational & methodical, personnel and material & technical support of patriotic education system ;
• physical development of children and youth, formation of the desire of a healthy way of life.

Okrug review competition among patriotic associations, organizations and institutions to define the best work organization in the sphere of civil. patriotic and spiritual and moral education of youth of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug in three nominations as follows has been traditionally held:

• "Best Cadet's class";

• "Best patriotic institution";

• "Best specialist in the sphere of patriotic education".

Annually a system of specialists' training in the sphere of patriotic education is implemented. To render information and scientific and methodic assistance, Okrug scientific and methodic  seminars fro patriotic work organizers are held by patriotic institutions. Representatives of bodies on youth's issues of the Autonomous Okrug, leaders and instructors of institutions of patriotic direction, heads of the teaching department on education work and teachers - organizers of basic safety of the educational institutions of the Okrug.

Events are directed on all social levels and age groups of the Autonomous Okrug, they define basic ways of system development of patriotic education, its main components, which allow to form youth's readiness to service for the Motherland.

At the same time experience and achievements of the past, modern realities and problems, tendencies of modern society development are taken into account.

Mass events directed to raise youth's civil and patriotic, socially active position in the society:

• Okrug military - sports games aimed to win the Cup of the Youth's Policy Committee of the Autonomous Okrug ("Zarnitsa", "Orlyenok", "Shchit");
• Okrug festival of military and patriotic song "Pamyat";
• Okrug meeting of scouting forces;
• Okrug festival of children and youth' arts "Ya lublu trbya, Rossia!.

Within the framework of the summer company, Okrug military and patriotic shifts are organized and held:

Analyzing events of military and patriotic direction held in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra, tendencies as follows should be noticed:

• educational level of events, concerning civil understanding and patriotism of the young generation, has increased;

• direction of civil and patriotic education is realized on the interdepartmental level in the most municipal entities;

• quantitative indices of the events are constantly transforming into qualitative: interest of teenagers and youth to learning of military history, attributes and symbols of Russian state, is growing while experience and skills of the future protector of the Motherland, cadets of military and patriotic clubs take part in sports and military games, contests of military and patriotic song, scouting expeditions, trips to the place of Battle Glory;

• system organization of military and sports games, military and sports shifts and camps provides interest of preinduction youth of the Okrug in further service at the Military Forces, promotes skills and experience obtaining which are necessary during service at the Military forces;

• number of youth going for fitness and sports at the organizations of military and patriotic education and preinduction youth in Ugra, amounted to  5909 people in 2007, and 64166 people in 2008;

• number of organizations operating in the sphere of patriotic education and preinduction youth and children in Ugra amounted to 59 institutions in 2007, 73 institutions in 2008 with the capacity of 15-300 people per day.
