Demographic processes in the Okrug have been developed on
the plan, typical for the most districts of intensified economic
discovering, till the end of 80s. The main growth of the population (82%)
fell to migration, intensity of which was extra high: gross migration
turnover amounted to 20%. But only 20 of 100 arrived people stayed in the
District.
At present natural growth is a determinant of population
increase in the Autonomous Okrug.
Natural growth of the population in 2009 accounted for
13821 people, increased by 5.7% to the comparable period a year earlier.
Okrug was reckoned the third by natural growth among the
members of the Russian Federation.
Migration growth in 2009 amounted to 1.7 thousand people
(4.8 thousand people in 2008).
