townsmen in the total number of the population made approximately 91.5%.
For the last 5 years the number of the population has increased by
appriximately 4%
and made over 1% of the population of the Russian Federation. In
connection with rapid development in oil- and gas-processing industry
population number of the Okrug has
increase by over 1 million
people for the last 30 years.
Stability
of demographic development of Ugra is achieved by two factors: young
age structure of the population and comparatively low level of
mortality in comparison with other regions of the Russian Federation.
Average age of residents of the Autonomous Okrug is 32.8 years.
Regarding the men number this index is lower, it makes 31.9,
regarding the women number this index is 33.6.
Representatives of 123 nationalities live in the region, including
Slavonic, Turkic, Finno-Ugrian groups. According to the data of the
census - 2002 the Russians, Ukrainians, Tartars and Bashkirs prevail
in the national
structure of the population.
Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug is a historic
motherland of the indigenous (aboriginal) population which is represented by 3
small-in-number groups: Khanty, Mansi, forest Nenets.
Their total number makes about 1.5 %.
Taking into account the national structure, confessions as follows
can be defined: Orthodoxy and Islam.
