The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

The VIII International Festival of Cinematographic Debuts “Spirit of Fire” is coming to the end in Khanty-Mansiysk today.

Yesterday it was held the Festival official closing ceremony and this year in the Festival frames it was held the presentation of screen debuts -2009 and the retrospective of Russian films and special program, devoted to the Year of the Teacher in Russia, was organized  for youth  and children.

At the closing ceremony Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova thanked organizers for “correct choice of cinematographic speed” which allowed people of the region while a week “to  seethe world in  a different  light”. “While the Jubilee Year of the Great Victory we together could return to the time of the War and to feel those events, to get an opportunity  to  look on the deed of the people via cinematographers’ view. It is first of all a present and our gratitude to the war participants”, - the head of the region emphasized. She also expressed confidence that that a year later in the frames of  theX International Festival of Cinematographic Debuts “Spirit of Fire” there would be screen debuts of Ugra film directors. Natalia Komarova thanked participants, organizers and guests of the Forum, wished success “to those who has won and those who will win”.

The chief prize “Golden taiga” and 300 ths, rubles were won by the Russian-Italian film “Ten winters”. The prize “Silver taiga” was won by the Greek film “Plato’s Academy”, and the “Bronze taiga” – by the Vietnamese film “Adrift”.

For the first time this year money prizes were  given to the winners in the contest “Russian screen debuts”. In this category the best works were chosen by spectators. The first prize was won by the film by AlenaSemenova and Alexander Smirnov “Rowan tree waltz”, the second – “Vidrimasgor or history of my Cosmos” by Yana Polyarush and the third – film “Roof” by Boris Grachevski.

The film by Alexander Rogozhkin “Cuckoo” was acknowledged the best film about the Great Patriotic War, shot in the 21 century by the Guild of Russian Cinematographic Critics.

The traditional prize named after PavelLebeshev for the best work of a  cameraman was got by IlyaMelikhov for his work  a  debut.

Leonid Bichevin (Rowan-tree waltz) and PolinaPluchek (Volchok) were awarded with the Alexander Abdulov’s prize for the best men’s and women’s roles.

The special prize of the Festival “Kinomania 2010” was got by students of 7 “A” form of secondary school #1 in Khanty-Mansiysk for active participation in the VIII International Festival of Cinematographic Debuts “Spirit of Fire”.

President of the Festival Sergei Solovyov said that while summing up the results of the Forum work, the days were filled in with significant events which could give a view which direction the young cinematography of the world was moving today and how it was connected with creative ideas of Russian screen debuts. He thanked his colleagues, participants, guests, spectators and sponsors of the Festival.

After the awarding ceremony it was shown the film by Alexei Popogrebski “How I spent this summer” which got three awards at the Berlin Film Festival.

This year film directors from 17 countries participated in the Festival “Spirit of Fire”, while seven Festival days 112 films were shown at five cinema halls of Khanty-Mansiysk. They were watched by over 17 ths. spectators including 5 ths. Children and teen-agers. The cost of a ticket was 38 rubles on average. The total  box-office takings amounted to over 700 ths. rubles.
