The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

Svetlana Sleptsovafrom Ugra – Champion of the Olympic Games in Vancouver – will get the award from the Khanty-MansiyskAutonomous Okrug. She will be awarded with the award “For Merit for the Motherland” for high sport achievements and great contribution into the development of physical culture and sport in Ugra.

On February 24 Svetlana, a member of the women’s biathlon combined team of Russia, won a gold medal in relay. After the victory the sportswoman wrote on her official site that she was proud of her participation in the Olympic Games: “I am proud that could bring a gold Olympic medal to Russia and first of all to my native town of Khanty-Mansiysk. It has been expected and people believed in it”.

The Okrug award will be given to the sportswoman just after her return to the Ugra capital from Vancouver.

President of Russia Dmitri Medvedev congratulated Natalia Komarova upon official inauguration in the position of the Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra.

“Having passed a great professional way, you accumulated knowledge and experience which are necessary in this responsible post. I reckon that you will make all efforts for gradual social-economic development of the region and increase of people’s life quality” – is said in the telegram. President wished Natalia Komarova success in the activities and all the best.

On March 01 it was held an official inauguration ceremony of Natalia Komarova in the position of Governor of the Khanty-Maniysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra. The ceremony took place at the Concert and Theatre Center “Ugra-Classic” in Khanty-Mansiysk.

Plenipotentiary representative of Russia’s President in the Urals Federal District Nikolai Vinnichenko, governors of the constituent entities of the RF, members of the Council of Federation,  deputies of the RF State Duma and Duma of the Autonomous Okrug, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, honorary citizens of Ugra, representatives of executive, legislative, judicial  authorities, political parties, NGO, religious organizations, trade unions. Honored employees  of national economy and social sphere, science, culture and art, outstanding sportsmen, winners of youth contests, laureates of All-Russia prizes participated in the ceremony.

The floor was given to the Governor of the Autonomous Okrug Alexander Filipenko first who thanked all people who had  worked  with him: “In my opinion and opinion of faithful observers, our collective and constructive work resulted in dynamic development of the Autonomous Okrug. I am convinced that today as a result of reforms in financial, economic and spiritual spheres, structure of the authorities and civil community interaction, Ugra is possessed of all opportunities to move forward in accordance with strategic plans, stated in fundamental documents of the Autonomous Okrug”. Alexander Filipenko congratulated Natalia Komarova and expressed confidence that due to her professionalism and great experience she would be able to continue what had been done, and would promote to dynamic development of Ugra and Great Russia. 

Chair of the Okrug Duma VasiliSondykovread the decree of the Okrug Duma about granting Natalia Komarova of power of Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra.

Natalia Komarova    took an oath. She swore to observe the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal laws, Charter and laws of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, do her duties, respect and protect interests of Ugra citizens.

VasiliSondykov handed over the symbols of the Okrug Governor.

“From now my key and basic goal is to work for the benefit of the Okrug, to do my best to increase well-being and strengthening social protection of each citizen. President of the Russian Federation Dmitri AnatolievichMedvedev and Prime-Minister Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin give global tasks for the country. Transition to innovation technologies, modernization of economy and system of management – is pledge of success of Ugra and Russia in the near future. We live and work in a strategic region and rhythm of modernization, speed of Russia’s innovation growth will be set  here  - in the resource center of our country. We are to renew ourselves to correspond to these requirements” , - said Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova in her speech to people of Ugra.

The new governor was congratulated by Plenipotentiary representative of Russia’s President in the Urals Federal District Nikolai Vinnichenko.

In his speech he emphasized that great reforms had been done in economic sphere of the region, social life of people, significant steps in the support of stability and “the most important thing – gratitude of ordinary people”. “We shall do much taking into account the ideas, made by President and declared today by the new governor. I am confident that Natalia Vladimirovna will be able to  do with your support”.

Natalia Komarova thanked everyone who had congratulated her and who welcomed her nd was with her that day. “I made a decision to award Alexander Filipenko, Honorary citizen of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, who had been the head of the region for almost two decades, with the highest award of the region “Merits  for the  Okrug”, - she resumed.

After the official ceremony Nikolai Vinnichenko, Natalia Komarova and Alexander Filipenko answered numerous questions of mass media.
