The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

On Friday in the Kremlin it was held the meeting of Russia’s President Dmitri Medvedev and Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko.

The head of the State thanked Governor of Ugra for long successful service in the position of the governor of one of the most important region for Russian economy, for high indicators, achieved in social and economic development of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and wished Alexander Filipenko success in the new state position.

President awarded Governor of Ugra with the  Order  of Merit for the  Country of the II Degree.

Deputy Chairman of the Government – head of the Administration of the Okrug Government Sergei Kuchin had a meeting with US Vice-Consul in Yekaterinburg Christophe Van Bebber.

He arrived in Khanty-Mansiyskwith two-days’ visit to study issues of visa support for people of Ugra who want to leave for the USA and first of all, for students – participants of the program “Work and Travel”.

Sergei Kuchin told about the results of the social and economic development of Ugra, about its huge tourist potential, about the great past and reliable future of the region. Vice-Consul was very interested that in the region with the population of 1,5 million people there are 50 ths. Students and many of them make trips under different programs to the USA to study English.

While the visit Christophe Van Bebbergot acquainted with the regional center, will meet with representatives of the Federal Migration Service and Administration of Khanty-Mansiysk municipality. At the Ugra State University at the meeting with students the talk was about  opportunities of training and internships in the USA, new opportunities of the participation in the international students’ exchange program.
