The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

The sandglass which symbolizes contest time of the XII International Festival of TV programs and films “Golden Drum” which was opened   in Khanty-Mansiysk.

The right to start the “Golden Drum” Festival was trusted to Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko. “I am sincerely glad to see familiar participants and new ones who came to the Festival for the first time”, - emphasized he at the opening ceremony of the Festival. “The Forum has its own history – a great number of participants became winners and if not tried to win the “Golden Goddess” again. You gather, exchange experience meet new friends. It means that the Festival is needed and in great demand. Let the TV Forum be a success, let its participants win. I wish you good luck at the Festival and in your creative work”.

President of the Festival  Lyubov Korneeva thanked all the competitors and guests of the “Gold Drum” Festival for “giving gathered today in Khanty-Mansiysk in spite of problems”. “I would like to thank people who again believed us and said: “Let the Festival be!” though it was not simple”, - she emphasized.

At the opening ceremony the laureates and diploma-winners of the previous festivals and members of the Expert Council, Students’ and International Jury were welcomed by  participants of this festival.

The Chair of the Festival International Jury – film director, president of the Non-Fiction Films Guild and Russian Television Vladimir Gerchikov emphasized that this year the members of the Jury had started the work earlier. It let them assess films more impartially.

Just after the official ceremony there was a demonstration of a documentary “MINA” (Iran) which won the Grand Prix of international festival in Moscow and Athens.

Peoples can watch films in five places in Khanty-Mansiysk: at the Museum of Man and Nature, cinema and video center, Picture Gallery of the Ugra Foundation of Generations, conference-halls of the hotel “On seven hills”, Cathedral.

On September 15 the films and programs will be on, submitted in the nominations “Social and political journalism”, “Under 16 years and more”, “Documentary”, “History and Culture”, “Ethnography and Travels”. The organizers plans to make a presentation of the TV channel “Russian Travel Guide” (RTG), out-of-contest demonstration of the documentary by independent producers Yulia Kiseleva and Alexandra Vorotsova “In Movement” and also the discussion “Youth and Society. Pros and Cons”.

Plenipotentiary representative of the Russian Federation President in the Urals Federal District Nikolai Vinnichenko sent his welcoming letter for the XIII International Festival of TV Films and TV Programs “Golden Drum”.

“The Festival “Golden Drum” has gathered the best representatives of the Russian Television, foreign and CIS countries  for two decades already in Khanty-Mansiysk. TV companies almost from all over Russia participate in the creative contest. For thirteen years in September Ugra becomes the center of discussions about the present and future of the television, a creative laboratory to determine avenues, topics, principles and forms of our life highlight. People who are l seeking for something all the time are united by the topic of the Festival – Man and Time. The main character of all films and programs, submitted to the contest, is Man with his problems, challenges, seeking for the essence of life and his place in the community, his adaptation to contemporary conditions”.

Nikolai Vinnichenko expressed confidence that the festival organizers had made their best for guests and participants to have “unforgettable impressions from the visit to the wonderful regions with the poetic name - Ugra”.

He wished participants success, good luck, well-being, stability, interesting discussion and meetings.

Today at the Okrug center Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko had a meeting with Consul General of the USA in Yekaterinburg Tim Sandusky.

The head of the region told about tempos of the Autonomous Okrug social and economic development and prospects of further improvement of Ugra economy.

The goal of the visit is acquaintance with the region, to establish closer relations between the USA and Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. In his opinion there are many opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation where the accent could be made on joint projects in environment protection.

The interlocutors share the opinion that the most important avenues for interaction can also be programs in education, culture and business.

Alexander Filipenko said that the regions had cooperated with US companies. In his opinion business relations between Ugra and USA are based on deliveries of equipment, mainly machinery, mechanisms, technologies for oil industry. “These are reliable partners. Recently due to the difficult world economic situation small and middle companies have felt uncomfortable. We hope that the formation of special regimes for small and middle business, we will be able to improve many aspects including in oil industry. For more active attraction of foreign investors into economy of Ugra we are having a dialogue to solve the situations on the legislative level, to create tax privileges and investment conditions for companies”, - said Alexander Filipenko.

Governor emphasized that the Autonomous Okrug is interested in cooperation with the USA in spite of the distance between the countries: “Even now there is a great number of the Russians: tourists, researchers who  visit  the USA. We have enough spheres for joint activities and obviously your visit to Ugra will promote to the activation of the work of those who are interested in cooperation with Russia and Autonomous Okrug in particular”.

The program of the Consul General’s visit includes a meeting with members of the Okrug Public Chamber, visit to the Ugra State University, Center  of Arts for Gifted Children of the North, Center of Folk Crafts and Art, Nordic Sport Center.
