The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

Today traditional events were started in Khanty-Mansiysk  and devoted to the celebration of the Day of Oil and Gas Industry Employees. The celebrations were opened with the flower ceremony at the monument “Ugra” which symbolizes the past, present and future of the region.

Governor of the Autonomous Okrug Alexander Filipenko, members of the Government, deputies of the Okrug Duma, mayors and delegations of the municipalities, honorary people of the region participated in the ceremony.

Opening the ceremony Alexander Filipenko expressed words of gratitude to veterans of the industry and those who continue their work: “Ancient Ugra has a glorious history and its bright pages have been started comparatively recently. Over 55 years ago the first gas gusher in Berezovo gave the birth to the new oil and gas province. Then comes Shaim, Ust-Balyk and many other fields which made it possible to create the most powerful social-economic complex – basis of Russia for a short historic period of time. These flowers are a contribution of respect and gratitude to veterans ad their younger generation – everyone who made a contribution into history of the Autonomous Okrug development and exploration and who today continues traditions of explorers who are developing our Ugra”.

The festive column  proceeded  to the square of the Museum of Geology, Oil and Gas where this year three new “star badges” were unveiled in honor of Franz Ivanovich Levitski, Felix Grigorievich Arzhanov, Vladimir Stepanovich Vikulov who devoted their life to the exploration of Siberian subsoils, formation of oil and gas complex of the region.

Governor of Ugra said that the names of prominent people who explored West Siberia, discovered oil-bearing fields, improved electric energy industry, aviation of the region are well –known to most people of Ugra. He expressed confidence that their life  is exemplary for younger generations.

Today the awarding ceremony of the best employees of oil and gas industry, laureates and winners of the regional contest of professional skills “Black Gold of Ugra”  will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk. “Explorers’ Halt” will be held at the Museum of Geology, Oil and Gas and in the evening – youth-entertainment program “Oil. Energy. Movement”. At the end – concert with the participation of performing groups from oil and gas companies of the Autonomous Okrug and invited performers.
