The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

Today the first bell has been rung in the capital of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra for future Olympic champions.

Governor Alexander Filipenko participated in the opening ceremony of the Ugra College of the Olympic Reserve.

He said that the new center is a logic continuation of the policy of the regional authorities regarding sports development.  As a result the provincial northern region has become a reliable region for the country where future champions are trained.

Today over 170 people represent Ugra at Al-Russia and international competitions and bring over 2 thousand medals annually.

The head of the region stated that all the conditions had been created at the College to train and bring up the future sports elite. He wished students good luck and victories to glorify Russia.

A new center  at the Khanty-Mansiysk students’ campus  is a response of Ugra for the Strategy of Physical and Culture and Sports Development of the Russian Federation until 2020 and for the Message of President Dmitri Medvedev to the Federal Assembly – about search and support of talented children.

The area of the Center of future Olympic champions is 18 ths. sq.m. It includes sports halls and fields, classrooms, hostel and canteen. Not just talented children from Ugra but also young sportsmen from 11 constituent entities of the Federation will study at the College.

Two more symbolic events happened at the ceremony: Governor and champions  gave  energy to children, and then planted an  rowan berry alley at the College. They say that this tree protects and bring good luck.
