The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

The concert of the symphony orchestra of the Mariinski Theatre under the leadership of Maestro Valeri Gergiev was held in Khanty-Mansiysk on November 20. The event took place in the frames of the international charityfestival “Ugra-Classic gathers friends”.

The program of the concert included “Carmen-suite”, concert for piano with orchestra by Dmitri Shostakovich and “Pictures from the exhibition” by Modest Musorgski.

Governor of the Autonomous Okrug Alexander Filipenko  thanked the Maestro for another remarkable meeting. “I think you spoil us as the performance of the orchestra is waited for by fans of real talent in many corners of the planet. Ugra is a young territory which makes the first steps and learns the world of art. Lessons of mastership of the Mariinski Theatre give an opportunity to touch the greatest masterpieces of the world classical music. I am confident that your creativity helps to grow not only of our region but makes a contribution into development of international relations”.

Valeri Gergiev said that cooperation of Ugra and Mariinski theatre will be continued and in the near future the paintings by Gennadi Raishev will be exhibited in one of the new concert-halls of the theatre.
