The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

Yesterday the Oil-Producing Countries World Boxing Cup was opened at the Tennis Sport Development Center in Khanty-Mansiysk. Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko participated in the opening ceremony. He welcomed boxers from 12 countries in Ugra and reminded that the birth to the tournament  had been given in  Nizhnevartovsk - capital of Samotlor. The Regional Boxing Federation made a decision to transfer the tournament to the Okrug center and the Regional Government supported this idea as it gives a higher level of organization and increases the status and prestige of the competitions. The head of the region said that fans would expect fair competition on the ring, victories, unforgettable impressions. He wished health and persistence  to sportsmen.

The combined team of Russia arrived at Khanty-Mansiysk a week ago. The twice repeated Olympic Champion Alexei Tischenko is being trained for the coming competitions. He intends to perform on the ring in his usual weight category under 60 kg. The boxer from Nizhnevartovsk, a silver prize-winner of the All-Russia Championships Ruslan Kamilov will defend the honor of the country. As the host of the competitions Ugra will be represented by boxers in all eleven weight categories. The status of the tournament in case of victory makes it possible to award sportsmen with the title "master of sport of the international class". The tournament is expected to be finished on Sunday on December 20.

Today Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko at the Moscow office will have a meeting  with veterans of oil- and gas-producing industry of the region, representatives of creative intelligentsia of the capital. Such meetings have become traditional. Those who worked in the Autonomous Okrug for many years developing the oil industry of Russia, who built towns and villages, constructed roads and  transmission facilities through taiga and swamps will gather at the Moscow office.

 People who cooperate with the Okrug Government for many years - businessmen, leaders of federal mass media, people of musical, theatrical and cinematographic world will also participate in the event.  As a rule, directors of federal authorities, Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov, deputies of the State Duma and members of the RF Council of Federation will participate in the meeting as well.

Governor will traditionally tell about social and economic development of the region, implementation of joint investment projects, prospects  for the coming year.

"Youth is the present of Ugra and not just its future", - said Governor of the Autonomous Okrug Alexander Filipenko at the traditional New Year party, held at the regional center. This year its topic is "Youth of the World".

Alexander Filipenko said the  younger generation brought the greatest contribution into the development of Ugra. In the frames of the closing ceremony of the "Year of the Youth" he awarded young people for the best projects which encourage the civil position, for the work with the youth and also personal contribution into the development of the contest "Gold future of Ugra".

Over 300 people participated in the New Year party including directors and specialists of the departments and institutions who work with the youth, leaders of public organizations, winners of the All-Russia, regional, Okrug contests, festivals, representatives of public chambers and parliaments, tourist organizations, mass media.

In the frames of the program the delegations of the Okrug  municipalities prepared the program of the country they represent.

Tomorrow the billiards  tournament for the Ugra Governor’s Cup for the title of Russia’s Billiards Absolute Champion will be opened in Khanty-Mansiysk. The head of the region Alexander Filipenko will participate in the opening ceremony.

The Honored Master of the RF Sport, World Champion, Champion of Russia-2009 Yuri Paschinski, Master of the RF Sport, twice repeated champion of Russia-2009, Absolute Champion of the Russian Federation - 2009 Dmitri Baev will compete for the title of Russia’s Absolute Champion.

The organizer of the tournaments is the Ugra Billiard Federation. It was founded in July of 2005. Since 2009 President of the Federation has been Alexander Gerber, Director of the budgetary institution of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra "Center of Promotion to the World Chess Olympiad".

Information:

Under the auspices of the Ugra Billiards Federation there are 73 billiards clubs in 16 municipalities of the region, and 2197 sportsmen attend them including 276 women, 12 coaches.

The top sportsmen of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra:

- Natalia Martynyuk, Surgut (the 1-st in the Siberian Cup Final in Kemerovo, twice repeated champion of Siberia - 2009, the fifth position at the European Championships - 2009, the fifth position at the All-Russia Championships-2009);

- Sergei Bagirov, Ura (the 3-rd at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, 2009);

- Artem Molchanov, Surgut (the 2-nd at the All-Russia Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk, 2008).

The men’s junior team of Ugra is within 8 teams at the All-Russia Teams Cup Total, 2009.  The team of the Khanty-Mansiysk Okrug is a participant of the semi-finale of the All-Russia Championships, 2008.

In October of 2009 the Ugra Billiard Federation is acknowledged as a member of the Russia’s Billiard Federation was certified for the implementation of goals, connected to the development of billiards sport in  the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.

In October of 2010 the European Billiards Championships "Free Pyramid" (men, women)  is expected to be held in Khanty-Mansiysk.
