The Okrug Governor’s
press-service informs:
Journalists of the united
editors’ office of the national newspapers "Khanty Yasang" and "Luima
Seripos" Lyudmila Spiryakova and Galina Kondina won the prizes of
Finnish cultural society named after Kastren for successful work in
national mass media.
This year Kastren’s society
awarded reporters who worked in 2004-2008 in printed mass media of
Russia in national languages in the sphere of journalism.
70 journalists from 12 regions
of Russia participated in the contest. The chief prize of the contest
amounted to 1000 Euro. Besides, eight prizes were won by editors who
write in national languages.

Yesterday the opening
ceremony of the International Tennis Tournament was held in
Khanty-Mansiysk.
The competitions were opened by
Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko and President of the Russian
Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpischev, Vice-President of the Russian
Tennis Federation Vladimir Lazarev and President of the Ugra Tennis
Federation Gadi Amirov.
Welcoming the sportsmen, the
head of the region said that it is the first tournament, hosted in the
Autonomous Okrug of such level and should be continued. "For many
participants of the competitions this tournament will be a step in the
increase of their professional skills. I am confident that soon Ugra
will host top tennis-players at their courts. Our accumulated
experience of the preparation and hosting the international
competitions let us hope for that".
Shamil Tarpischev expressed the
words of gratitude to the tournament organizers and wished
uncompromised competition to sportsmen. "The organizers of the
competitions did their best and we say - conditions in Khanty-Mansiysk
are ideal for sportsmen. The Autonomous Okrug has become one of the
recognized centers of the Russian sport development. It is proved by
the level of the preparation and hosting the biathlon, chess and
boxing competitions and competitions of other sport".
After the opening ceremony of
the tournament it was held its first match between Marselle Granoliers
(Spain) and Fabris Martin (France).the Spanish tennis-player won (6:4,
6:4). The prize fund of the tournament amounts to 50 ths. USD.

Governor of Ugra Alexander
Filipenko congratulated Alexei Ashapatov upon is new world record in
shot throwing. The athlete made this record in Bangalore (India)
at the World Paralympic Track-and-Fiend Championships.
Alexei was the first in shot
throwing and his result was 16,27 m. So he exceeded the previous
world record by 24 cm.
Alexei Ashapatov won another
gold medal in disc throwing - 55,99 m. The second was an athlete from
the Czech Republic with the result - 45,27 m.
Another athlete of the Ugra
Disable People Sport Center Olga Sergienko from Yugorsk was the second
in javelin throwing. Her result - 20,11 m and Olga got a silver medal
of the World Championships.
"I am pleased that the sportsmen
show their best results. It means that coaches made everything
correctly", - said Chief coach of the Paralympic tracj-and-field
combined team of Russia Irina Gromova. "In January of 2011 in New
Zealand it will be hosted the World Championships where sportsmen will
participate in all the disciplines of the Paralympic program. Then
comes London of 2012. We have all grounds to hope that we will form a
strong team - able to improve their result in Beijing".
Alexei Ashapatov and Olga
Sergienko are the best sportsmen of the track-and-field combined team
of Russia and leaders of Ugra combined team.
Today Ugra athletes - members of
the paralympic track-and-field combined team of Russia return to
Moscow. They will come to Ugra on December 3.
