The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

On September 15-20 it will be held in Nizhnevartovsk the X International Volleyball Tournament for the Ugra Governor’s Cup, devoted to the 85-th anniversary of volleyball development in our country.

The competitions are hosted by the Regional Volleyball Federation, Volleyball Club "Samotlor" with the participation of the Autonomous Okrug Government.

Children’s and youth’s teams, professional teams of the Autonomous Okrug and Russia will participate in the jubilee tournament - totally 16 teams (almost 250 sportsmen).

Besides the teams of Nizhnevartovsk and Surgut District, the teams "Lokomotiv-Izumrud" from Yekaterinburg and Italian team "Tonno Kallipovolei" will play for the Champion’s title in the Super league.

On September 18-23 the Archery-Biathlon Championships and Competitions of Russia will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk.

According to the information of the Competitions Organizing Committee, at present 102 sportsmen from 12 regions of Russia confirmed their participation. The tournament program includes cross and cross-sprint, qualification and individual competitions, archery competitions, pursuit with classical and freestyle mixed.

The Chief coach of the combined team of the Khanty-Mansiysk Okrug Andrei Markov said that archery biathletes of Ugra will compete with the teams of Yaroslavl and Moscow Regions, Khabarovsk Krai and Bashkortostan.

Besides the competitions with the participation of the best Russian sportsmen, lotteries will be organized for fans. Besides, everyone could shoot from a bow under the control of the  11-time repeated world champion in archery biathlon.

On September 21 in the frames of the All-Russia competitions the qualification race for the prize of the Mayor of Khanty-Mansiysk will be organized for the first time. Last year it was not held because of bad weather conditions.

The Russian Statistics Committee published the data of economic statistics about social and economic situation of the country in general and constituent entities of the Russian Federation separately for the first half of 2008. The leaders are the Kaluga and Bryansk Regions as their economic growth exceeded 130 %.

In the Urals Federal District the leader is the  Kurgan Region (116,0 %), the outsiders are Tyumen Region (100,2 %) and Yamal (98,7 %). In the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug the industrial growth was 100,8 % in the first half of 2008. Ugra and Moscow are leaders in Russia regarding output of industry.

On Sunday, September 21, the XII International Festival of TV Programs and TV Films "Golden Drum" will start in the Ugra capital.

303 works of the Festival were submitted in 17 nominations (128 TV companies and studios from 65 towns and cities) of Russia, Armenia, Byelorussia, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Kirgiz Republic. 110 programs and films were recommended for the jury to be assessed (70 companies  from 18 countries and republics). The total time keeping was 3042 minutes or 51 hours.

80 nominees, selected by the Festival Expert Council, will compete for the "Golden Drum" Grand Prix and 17 statuettes of the "Golden Goddess".

The members of the Jury are famous masters of documentaries, journalism of Russia, prominent film directors from Sweden, Finland, Georgia.

At 18.00 at the Grand Hall of the Concert and Theatre Center "Ugra-Classic" there will be held the opening ceremony of the Festival. The program includes the presentation of the TV channel "Ugra" and show "Drum sounds". Participants and guests of the Festival will have a meeting with a unique performer Arcadi Schilloper (Germany).

Daily on September 21-25 everyone will be able to watch the best documentaries and feature films free of charge at the cinema hall of the Picture Gallery, Cinema-PROFI, "Ugra-Classic".

The event of the non-competitive program will be the documentary  "Prague. August 21, 1968" and meeting with the Finnish film director R.Nikkila (Helsinki, Finland) on September 22 at 14.00 at the cinema hall of the Picture Gallery.

The Center of Extreme Journalism of Russia and "Frontline" project present films by Pavel Kostomarov "Mother" - the winner of the prize "Lavr-2007" and Norwegian journalists "Monument" about the events in Tallinn (September 23-24, Cinema-PROFI).

Meetings with film directors and journalists of Russia, master-classes and discussions will be organized for students of the Ugra State University.

In the Festival frames there will be held round tables devoted to problems of professional ethics and media space, presentations of TV channels, projects, press-conference with film directors and authors of films.

The Festival will be finished on September 25 with the awarding ceremony of winners and concert of Vladimir Markin.
