The Okrug Governor’s
press-service informs:
Today
Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko had a meeting with journalists of
the news agencies of the OPEC countries-exporters – participants of
the international conference, held in Moscow and Khanty-Mansiysk on
September 11-14.
The organizer of the Conference
and meeting with Governor of the biggest Russia oil-producing region
are the News Agency “ITAR-TASS” and Government of Ugra.
Representatives of the top news agencies from 11 OPEC countries
arrived at the Ugra capital: Iran, Kuwait, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Oman,
Arab Emirates, Ecuador, Angola, Venezuela, Qatar, Algeria, and also
some printed and TV mass media. The First Deputy Chair of the Okrug
Government for social policy Natalia Zapadnova, Deputy Director
General of the News Agency ITAR-TASS, journalist Yakov Borovoi also
participated in the talk.
Alexander
Filipenko made a video-presentation about social and economic
situation of the region, its history, key vectors of the development
strategy. Governor said that recently Ugra had celebrated a remarkable
event – extraction of the nine billionth ton of oil, Totally 17
billion tons of oil had been produced in Russia. The Autonomous Okrug
produces 7,5 %of oil against 42 % produced by OPEC countries. Yakov
Borovoi reminded the words of the Vice-Chair of the RF Government Igor
Sechin that strengthening global energy security was impossible
without the dialogue between Russia and OPEC, without cooperation of
these key players in global energy and cooperation with OPEC was
considered one of the priorities for the Russian Federation. Yakov
Borovoi expressed a proposal to create the media community of
journalists from oil-producing countries of the world. The initiative
was approved by Alexander Filipenko and representatives of news
agencies – participants of the meeting. While discussing this topic it
was achieved the consent about holding in Khanty-Mansiysk in 2009 the
World Summit of Journalists – representatives of mass media from
oil-producing countries.
While two hours’ talk Governor
answered several questions concerning relations of Ugra with OPEC
countries, environmental problems, development of transport
infrastructure, prospects of oil production in the region,
implementation of investment projects in the Autonomous Okrug.
Investments
into the fixed capital in 2007 amounted to 14,4 billion USD and
Ugra ranks the second in the rating of investment attraction of Russia
regions. This year the amount of investments is expected to grow by
10 % (about 1,5 billion USD).
The annual level of oil
production equal to 270-280 million tons of oil can be preserved in
Ugra while 20-25 years under condition of growing scope of investments
into prospecting and new technologies to increase the producible oil
index.
After the meeting with the head
of the region the conference participants made a tour around
Khanty-Mansiysk with visiting cultural and sports facilities,
sightseeing.

Today from the very morning
thousands of Chinese fans waited for a new world record at the
Paralympic Games from Alexei Ashapatov and he did not disappoint them:
the athlete from Ugra threw a disc for the distance of 57 m 61 cm.
The world record, made 8 years
ago, was improved by 1,5 m and crowds of fans ran to the Siberian
athlete and wanted to take a picture with him. Alexei made two world
records. The silver medal was won by an athlete from China.
On September 09 Alexei won a
gold medal in shot-put. The title of the top athlete in shot-put
belongs to the representative from Ugra. The Director of the Center of
Disable People’s Sport Eduard Isakov said: “Great thanks to Governor,
Okrug Government who believed in us and created our Center. Our
sportsmen did their best. Alexei Ashapatov at trainings showed the
worst result and at the Games surpassed all expectations. Olga
Sergienko threw a javelin for the distance of 19 m 30 cm at the
Championships of Russia and her in Beijing for the distance of 20 m 55
cm and showed the best result among representatives of European
countries. The merit of their coach Valeri Prokhorov is great who
trained his athletes and they did their best at the Paralympic Games”.
The head of the Ugra delegation
conveyed congratulations to relatives and friends of our sportsmen.
