The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko signed the decree of the Government about holding the Regional contest "Family of the Year in Ugra".

The main goal of the event is to strengthen the family as the institute, increase the significance of family values and traditions. The contest is held on the municipal and regional levels.

The families-winners of the municipal contests participate in the regional competition. To participate in the contest it is necessary to submit the winner’s  application form to the Department for Labor and Social Support of the Population and the letter of support from a local authority, information about the role of the family in the preservation and development of family traditions, special achievements of   his/her family members (video, photos, diplomas, certificates), story in writing about the history of   his/her family.

The participants can submit application forms in three nominations: labor dynasty - families with three and more generations of the family professional followers; tree of life - families studying the history of their clan, and large family  - with 5 and more children. The works will be assessed according to the 10 score-system and criteria as follows: knowledge of one’s family history and traditions, system of bringing up, contribution into the development of the town or district, creative interests.

The contest winners are the families with the biggest score.

The awarding ceremony of the laureates will be held on May 15, 2010 while the celebration of the Family International Day.

The Organizing Committee is headed by the First Deputy Chair of the Autonomous Okrug Government Natalia Zapadnova.

On September 05 the exhibition of water-colors by Gennadi Novikov will be  opened in Khanty-Mansiysk.

A new cycle of the artist’s paintings was devoted to the past of the Okrug capital. Its topic - "Sketches about Khanty-Mansiysk 30 years ago". In the 1970-s a member of the Russia’s Painters Union Gennadi Novikov from Tyumen visited Khanty-Mansiysk and painted the industrial development of the region. His water-colors participated at the All-Russia exhibition "Urengoy-Pomory-Uzhgorod". At present the painter lives and works in Yaroslavl.

The authors’ exhibition of water-colors by Gennadi Novikov will be held at the Museum of Nature and Man.

The exhibition by Elena Sukhova "the Outlined ABC of Ugra" will be opened on September 04 at the Museum of Nature and Man in Khanty-Mansiysk.

The exhibition includes bookplates for the calendar, graphic miniatures "Castles of the Czech Republic", works from the cycle "Hats" and also ex-libris for the topic "200-th anniversary of Pushkin". The example of the book graphics can serve illustrations for the poem by Olga Sedakova "Chinese Travel".

The world of Elena Sukhova is a vision without prototypes, images from the past or future. One can admire their high art culture and technical skills.

The exhibition of the painter from Surgut will be held in the frames of the project "Artist and Museum". In its frames not just the art of Ugra painters is demonstrated but also their contribution to the cultural palette of the region is researched.
