The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

Yesterday Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug Alexander Filipenko awarded the winner of the contest “Family of the Year in Ugra - 2008” with the main prize – car. The leader of the contest was the large family of Gorlovs from the Surgut District.

While the   ceremony of summing up the results of the Okrug event the winners of the contest and prize-winners, laureates of various nominations came to the stage of the Concert and Theatre Center “Ugra-Classic.

In the nomination “Labor dynasty”  the families of Kochkurovs from Kogalym, Plyusnins from the Nefteyuganski District, Livns from the Surgut District, Kirenskys from Khanty-Mansiysk were awarded.

In the nomination “Family tree” the families of the Polyakovs (Pyt-Yakh), Dunaevs (Sovetski District), Barmins (Raduzhny), Molodtsovs (Kondinski District), Khazhins (Surgut) participated.

In the nomination “Large family” the families of Venza (Raduzhny), Kokoulins (Nyagan), Bakievs (Nefteyugansk), Yamovs (Yugorsk), Zabolotski-Burovs (Nizhnevartovsk) were awarded. All the laureates will bring with them not just pleasant memories but also valuable gifts.

This year over 700 people and over 200 families of labor veterans, doctors, painters, oilmen, labor dynasties, young, creative, sports, large families participated in the celebrations.

While the meeting with journalists after the awarding ceremony Alexander Filipenko said that the family is first of all the obligations and responsibility for close people, and it is an important moment in the human formation, his attitude to life and civil position in general. Therefore a citizen, the head of the family   is needed by the country, State as he is reliable. For the last three years al the demographic indicators in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug have hade a positive dynamics: “general social optimism plus activities of the authorities make it possible to develop the institute of the Family in the region”. Also Governor informed  the journalists that at the end of May at the meeting of the Ugra Duma the legislative initiative would be considered about the increase of the age criteria for the participation in the regional program for young  families’ mortgage crediting  - up to 35 years.

While the II International Convention for Regional and Local Approaches to the Development, held in Tangiers (Morocco) on May 13 it was held the working meeting of the Ugra delegation members Gennadi Oleynik and Sergei Kuchin with Christoph Nuttall, Director of the Hub for Innovative Partnerships, UNDP (Geneva), and Priscilla Wohl, Northern Forum Executive Director.

At the meeting there were discussed the issues of the preparation for the Conference “Role of Oil- and Gas-Producing Regions of the World in Achieving the Goals of the Millennium”. The initiative of holding such a conference belongs to the Hub for Innovative Partnerships, UNDP and Northern Forum Association. It is expected to be held at the beginning of September, 2008 in Khanty-Mansiysk in the frames of the events devoted to the production of the nine billionth ton of oil in Ugra.

The issues to be discussed at the conference include:

  •  methodology of implementation and support in building the relations among the regions and UNDP;

  •  role of oil- and gas-producing corporations in the climate change and adaptation of the regions population;

  •  formation of the International Actions program of the regions, possessed of oil nas gas resources.

Deputy Chairman of the Ugra Government Vladimir Karasev chaired the Organizing Committee meeting about the preparation and hosing the VI International Ecological Action “To Save and to Protect”.

Representatives of the Autonomous Okrug municipalities informed the members of the Organizing Committee about the preparedness for    the Action. In all the populated localities of Ugra while the month there will be held numerous events for the protection of the environment, promotion of the rational attitude to forests, rivers, lakes, “green patrol” raids, special lessons and etc.

Environmental events will start all over the Autonomous Okrug on May 16 and the closing ceremony and summing up the results of the Action will take place in Khanty-Mansiysk on June 10, 2008.

The VI International Ecological Action will traditionally be held  under the personal control of the Ugra Governor Alexander Filipenko.
