The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

Today the recently appointed Plenipotentiary representative of Russia’s President in the Urals Federal District Nikolai Vinnichenko held the press-conference in video-mode for journalists of the Urals region.

He shared his impressions about the Okrug, highly assessed its social and economic development, staff including the Governor’s administration, where responsible people work. He considers the role of the Urals to be crucial as it is the economic heart of Russia and it will be preserved for many years. He said about the great importance of the mega-project “Ural Industrial – Ural Polar” for the future of the country.

Nikolai Vinnichenko said that he intended to develop achievements of his predecessor in this position, to put more creativity into the activities of the representative office, to expand the dialogue with regions, parties which work for the development, trade-unions, public, youth and veteran organizations.

Answering the question about the formation of the President’s staff reserve, he informed that over 200 candidates had been selected for regional and federal structures, but the list would be finalized by  March of 2009.

As for the impact of the world financial crisis consequences, in his opinion, they are not felt in the Urals region but the task of local authorities is to control the situation, to implement social obligations for the population.

On December 17 Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko participated in the gala meeting, devoted to the 15-th anniversary of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of Russia.

The head of the RF President’s Administration Sergei Naryshkin and First Vice-Prime Minister of the Government Sergei Sobyanin welcomed the participants of the meeting. They mentioned the fact that the upper chamber of the Russian parliament had achieved much as the public authority, for the last 15 years the reliable legislative basis had been created for Russia’s development on democratic principles.

In his welcoming speech Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko said that the Council of Federation continued the best traditions of democracy, made a great contribution into strengthening of the civil peace and consent, national unity, increase of the Russians’ life quality, strengthening of Russia’s role in the world community. Constructive cooperation of the Council and public authorities of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra promotes to development of the legislation of Ugra, is implemented in large-scale projects which provide Russia’s economic situation, sustainable development of our country today and in the prospects.

Alexander Filipenko was a member of the first Council of Federation in the 90-s.

Today at the Congress and Exhibition Center “Ugra-Expo” it was held the opening ceremony of the IV Regional Forum “Information World of Ugra” and Specialized Exhibition “Press of Ugra-2008”.

Deputy Chairman of the Ugra Government Sergei Kuchin welcomed guests and professionals of Ugra media community: “It has become a good tradition to hold in Khanty-Mansiysk such thematic events. It make sit possible to gather representatives of one sphere to exchange experience, new ideas and to make new contacts. The number of participants is growing from year to year and this year it is about 70 people”. He thanked people and expressed hope that this Forum would become another opportunity for communications and due to that people of the region would become  better informed.

The winners of the regional contests “Ugra camera” and “Patriot of Russia” were awarded. 32 best correspondents and photo-correspondents of the region were awarded with diplomas of the 1,2 and 3 ranks in various nominations. Vyacheslav Goncharenko, photo – correspondent from the newspaper “Novosti Ugry” was awarded with the title “The best photo-correspondent of Ugra-2008” for the cycle of  photos about the Autonomous Okrug.

After the opening ceremony it was held the plenary session with the participation of leaders of federal mass media, chief-editors of Ugra newspapers, leaders of press-services and divisions for news policy of the municipalities. They will discuss issues of mass media activities efficiency under contemporary conditions of market economy, situation of the information society development strategy in Russia.

After the plenary session the participants of the IV Regional forum “Information world of Ugra” will take part in workshops and round tables. Besides, it is planned the meeting with Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko where representatives of media can ask questions.

The results of the Forum will be summed up on December 19.
