The Okrug Governor’s
press-service informs:
On December 15 Governor of
Ugra Alexander Filipenko had a meeting with members of the delegation
from South Korea which came to Khanty-Mansiysk with familiarization
visit.
The members of the delegation –
Councilor of President of South Korea for Culture Kwang Chul Chin,
President of "XTEP International" Un Sang Chong, Chair of the Board of
the JSC "Ark-II" Igol Li.
Alexander Filipenko told about
Ugra, its history, social and economic situation, nature resources,
role in Russia. Governor remembered that in the mid of October he
visited Ulsan in South Korea where the oil refinery and gas
processing plant of the biggest Korean company SK Energy is located.
He said that he had been impressed by the structure of national
economy of South Korea and development of petrochemical industry, the
fact the Koreans created the biggest plants for hydrocarbons
processing and refinery though South Korea is not possessed of oil.
The head of the region said that
Ugra was ready to propose several tens of priority investment projects
which could be of interest for businessmen of South Korea. The total
capacity of these projects amounts to almost 500 billion rubles. In
opinion of Alexander Filipenko the cooperation in tourism, sport,
culture, high technologies could be of mutual interest. "We really
have enough potential to organize joint work in many avenues. We would
like to establish direct contacts with Korean companies,
representatives of big business. It would be interesting and
efficient", - said Alexander Filipenko.
At the meeting with the head of
the region Mr. Chin said that the regional center produced a great
impression on them. The guest proposed to establish relations between
cities, permanent friendly links for mutual acquaintance with life,
history, culture, experience exchange. One of the cities from South
Korea can become a twin-city of Khanty-Mansiysk. Alexander Filipenko
supported this idea and emphasized that establishing such relations
would promote to successful and more dynamic cooperation of Ugra and
South Korea.
Councilor of the President also
said that South Korea was ready to participate in the creation of the
Anthem of the 39-th World Chess Olympiad which is expected to be held
in 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk. The Koreans have the experience of holding
the Summer Olympiad in 1988 in Seoul where the official anthem was
also sounded.

The Union of Ugra Journalists
signed the agreement on interaction and cooperation with the regional
division of the Federal Service for Control in the sphere of mass
communications.
Chair of the Union of Ugra
Journalists Lyubov Korneeva said in her comments that "the agreement
should greatly promote to increasing the level of juridical literacy
of the Autonomous Okrug journalists and leaders of mass media.
Cooperation is mutually beneficial for both parties as Rossvyaznadzor
is extremely interested in observance of the federal legislation in
this sphere and we need guarantees of journalists’ rights protection
and general level of juridical culture of mass media employees… "
That is why the permanent
information exchange is expected as well as workshops and meetings
with Rossvyaznadzor experts.
The Union of Ugra Journalists
unites over 400 journalists of newspapers, Internet-publications, TV
and radio companies and news agencies.
