The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

On September 26-28 the VIII General Assembly of International Association "Northern Forum" will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk with the motto "Partnership for the sake of progress".

"Northern Forum" is a non-governmental organization members of which are 16 northern regions of 8 world countries. At present the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug chairs at the Forum. Executive Director Mrs. Priscilla Wohl heads the Executive secretariat of the "Northern Forum" located in the town of Anchorage (Alaska, USA)

Leaders of regions - members of the "Northern Forum" will meet at the General Assembly to solve problems of nature protective activity, medicine, science, economic and business activity development in the northern regions. In the frameworks of the General Assembly  it is planned to hold several events: Northern festival of cultures, summit with participation of business partners of the "Northern Forum", representatives of heads of Commerce and Industry Chamber of the Russian Federation, American trade chamber in Moscow, Embassy of Canada in Russia.

In the frameworks of the XI International festival "Golden Tambourine" the presentation of the Russian children's channel "Telenyanya" was held.

Alexander Nechaev, director of marketing department, mentioned that broadcasting of the TV channel started in June of this year. Viewers of "Telenyanya" are over 1.5 million children, living in Perm, Samara, Volgograd, Tyumen, Penza, Ioshkar-Ola, Omsk, Orenburg, Chelyabinsk, Kirov, Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Izhevsk. It is planned that federal children's channel will be watched by all Russia till the end of 2007.

"Telenyanya" is the first national channel, created specially fro children in the age of 3-8. Its conception was developed in cooperation with children's psychologists on the basis of several complex researches and tested on some focus groups with children and grown-ups.

In summer of 2007 Yugra was visited by approximately 100 ths. tourists and sightseers.

According to the data of tourists companies of the Autonomous Okrug, specialized on inbound regional tourism, over 3.6 vouchers was sold for the summer period. It increased by 20% in comparison with the level of the previous year.

Okrug Tourism Committee held special action this year. Expedition to the Pre-Polar Urals was held. Summer campaign "Spend summer in Yugra" operated. According to its results the number of organized tourists and visitors increased by over than 2.5 times in comparison with 2004.

Yugra Governor Alexander Filipenko has signed an order to hold the III International digital television conference "Digital Russia: yesterday, present, tomorrow" in Khanty-Mansiysk on October 1-3.

For information, Autonomous Okrug is one of the leaders of digital television development in Russia, particularly the Okrug TV and Radio company "Yugra" which is responsible for preparation and holding of the present conference, is engaged in its approbation for implementation.
