The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

Today Ugra Governor Alexander Filipenko awarded the winners of the contest to get Governor's grants in the sphere of foundation, publication and distribution of mass media of the Autonomous Okrug.

The best electronic and printed mass media were chosen from 57 applications and recommended by Coordination Council on information policy of the Autonomous Okrug for grants awarding.

Alexander Filipenko greeted the winners of the contests of last years for successful realization of planned projects. He congratulated the grants receivers of this season, thanked journalists for fruitful work and wished success in their further activity. The head of the region paid a special attention to the contest projects in which much attention is paid to young generation and childhood support.

Scientific practical conference "Development of mass communications of the Autonomous Okrug for 2007-2010" was held on November 13 in the frameworks of the Okrug forum "Information world of Ugra".

Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug Alexander Filipenko told representatives of mass media about prospects of social and economic development of the Autonomous Okrug and role of mass media in this processes. Besides, the head of the region answered the questions of participants of the conference, concerning the current situation in information environment of the Autonomous Okrug.

Deputy Chairman of the Government on issues of information policy Oleg Goncharov told the participants of the conference about basic directions of activity of authority bodies in media sphere. Foundation of regional information center (RIC), comprising a system of press centers which allow municipal and regional mass media to exchange information on-line owing to information technologies, on the basis of TV company "Ugra" is one of the strategic directions. It is planned that RIC will start its work in the middle of 2008. Special attention will be paid to the system of training and upgrading of journalists' qualification.

Activity of electronic and printed mass media of the Autonomous Okrug, prospects of cooperation were discussed by participants of the conference at the round tables.

XI scientific practical conference "Ways of oil, gas and ore potential of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra" started its work in Khanty-Mansiysk.

260 leading scientists and specialists of oil, geological-prospecting institutes from 23 towns of the Russian Federation took part in it. Greeting the participants Governor Alexander Filipenko stressed the significance of the event for further economic development of the Autonomous Okrug and Russia on the whole.

According to the Governor scientific researches, new methods in prospecting works, directed firstly to increase competitiveness of Siberian oil, play an important role in oil production rate. The newest development have allowed Ugra oilmen to produce extra over 2.5 million tons of oil, it makes 10% of oil production since the beginning of the current year.

Alexander Filipenko also stressed the necessity of further development of solid minerals, especially mineral resource basis, placed on eastern mountainside of the Urals.

Today the III Okrug forum "Information world of Ugra" and exhibition "Ugra press-2007", organized by the Government of the Autonmous Okrug, Governor's press-service, Department of information policy and exhibition center "Yugorskie kontrakty", were opened on congress exhibition center "Ugra-Expo".

Governor Alexander Filipenko greeted the participants and guests. He called the event which has become traditional, a holiday of journalists' society. He mentioned that for the last 7 years the number of mass media in the region has increased by over 1.5 times. There are enough talented people, their size is increasing, nearing to 2.5 ths., it is much for 1.5-million population of our Ugra. He expressed his satisfaction with the fact that mass media of the Okrug have a wide range of views and opinions, journalists don't fear to express their position on the actual issues of Ugra society life and give food for readers, viewers and listeners' thought.
