The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:
 Objective
of Reading Festival participants, arrived to the Okrug, is to join young
generation of Ugra people to reading, to inculcate love to the best
examples of modern literary language.
This theme was widely discussed at the meeting of the
Governor of the Autonomous Okrug Alexander Filipenko and star group of
poets, writers and musicians, devoted their creative work to children.
Director of the fund "Pushkinskaya biblioteka" (Pushkin's
library) Maria Vedenyapina stressed the problem of acquisition of school
libraries with belles-lettres,
criticized
unvaried stock of books in bookshops of Ugra. She mentioned that in the
towns in which festive events will be held - Surgut, Nizhnevartovsk,
Khanty-Mansiysk - books gift sets will be granted. Totally school
libraries will get over 7000 books and 1000 children's magazines.
Besides, literary men expressed hope that their friendship with the
Khanty-Mansiysk Okrug will be continued in the next year which is
celebrated as "Family's year" and frameworks of the festival will be
significantly widen.
Writers expressed a wish to visit remote areas of the
region, to meet with children, their parents, wide public, to introduce
the best examples of literary work for children and youth.
Alexander Filipenko assured that they will get the most active support.

"Book helps to think and develop imagination because
while reading it is necessary to imagine, to find an image, created at
the pages of the book. It is important that while reading the literature
there is always a mystery. From the first page of the book to the past,
no one knows the end" - said the Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk
Autonmous Okrug Alexander Filipenko, opening the reading festival fro
children and youth "Knizhkiny
kanikuly".
The head of the region called the festival as a
festival for children who like to read. He thanked children's writers,
poets, musicians, arrives to the Okrug "for opportunity to study,
understand all good, given to Ugra people since young age".
Alexander Filipenko congratulated school children on
the opening of the Festival and National Unity Day as well which is
celebrated in Russia on November 4. He told children in brief about
history of public holiday foundation and its significance for Russian
citizens.
Performances of young Ugra talents and communication
of representatives of creative groups with school children of
Khanty-Mansiysk continued festive ceremony.
For information, "Knizhkiny
kanikuly" is held in the frameworks of the Year of Russian language,
announced in Russia, with assistance of the Government of the Autonomous
Okrug and Department of education and science of Ugra. Non-commercial
fund "Pushkinskaya biblioteka" (Pushkin's library) is the organizer of
the festival.
