On December 9, XII Okrug exhibition fairy "Goods of Ugra land" will start to work in Khanty-Mansiysk.

This project is traditionally devoted to the Day of Autonomous Okrug, its 77th anniversary, it unites several exhibition expositions. Production of construction, wood-processing, agricultural, food industries enterprises, animal breeding farms, fuel and energy complex and scientific and production centers is represented at the fair. Over 100 organizations confirmed their participation in the project.

Exhibition fairy will be placed at the congress exhibition center "Ugra-Expo" and will work till December 11.

Contest commission has summed up traditional open literary contest for children and teenagers named after Mansi narrator Anna Mitrofanovna Konkova.

This year 180 authors in the age of 6-18 from 28 towns and settlements of the Autonomous Okrug, Kurgan, Tyumen, Sverdlovsk regions, towns of Tyumen, Salekhard, Perm, Nizhny Novgorod, Adygeya Republic of Krasnodarsky Krai represented to jury approximately 450 works as follows: poems, stories, fairy tales and legends.

Maria Nagornaya and Maria Khodaeva (Ugorsk), Ekaterina Kozlova (Nizhnevartovsk), Alexandra Maltseva (settlement of Lugovskoi of the Khanty-Mansiysky District), Olga Alekseeva (settlement of Pionersky of the Sovetsky District) were awarded diplomas of winners in three age groups and three  nominations.

On December 12, in the state library of Ugra, Days of Ugra literature, devoted to the international Year of Reading, Russian Language Year in Russia and 10th anniversary of the Okrug writers' organization, will start with books and magazines exhibition "Made in Ugra" and presentations of new issues of Autonomous Okrug writers.

Representatives of Russian Writers' Union administration, literary men from Moscow, St.Petersburg, Ural Region, poets and prose writers of the Autonomous Okrug will participate in the literary actions. They will met with readers, will hold master classes with young literary men.

Day of literature will finish on December 14 with festive party "Ugra - territory of literature" in the sport complex "Druzhba". The first ceremony of new All-Russian literature premium "Ugra" will held there as well.

Commission on issues of Ugra vocational education institutions system optimization is founded in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug.

Chairman of the Okrug Government on issues of education, science and external relations Aleksei Maiorov headed it.

Members of the Government, heads of interested departments, rectors of higher educational institutions of the Autonomous Okrug are within the structure of commission. They are to solve objectives, concerning provision of agreed actions on the municipal, regional and federal levels, interaction with public organizations and associations in the sphere of vocational education upgrading.

Experts, representatives of interested executive bodies of different levels, educational institutions, public associations and other organizations will be invited to the meeting of the Commission.

First interregional exhibition-forum "Sodruzhestvo-2007", devoted to the 15th anniversary of cooperation among Ugra, regions of Russia and CIS countries finished in Khanty-Mansiysk.

Expositions from St.Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, demonstrated achievements in the sphere of economic development, science and culture, experience of advanced methods usage, promoting quality raise and competitiveness of national production took part in the exposition.

In the frameworks of business program experience of cooperation among the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and members of the Russian Federation was discussed, prospects of further development of interregional cooperation were planned, a meeting of advisory council on realization of customs policy of the Ural customs board was held.

President of Deaf-and-Dumb Olympic Committee of Russia Valery Rukhledov sent congratulations to Ugra Governor Alexander Filipenko.

In summer of 2007 the VII European Athletics Championship for deaf-and-dumb athletes in which Russian team received 10 golden, 7 silver and 10 bronze medal, was held in Sophia. Surgut athlete Maksim Bgan, taking the second position in hammer-throwing and his coach made a significant contribution for the win of our team.

First deputy Chairman of the Government on social issues Natalia Zapadnova held a meeting of interdepartmental commission on results of children health-improving campaign of 2007 in Khanty-Mansiysk.

In 2007 over 342 ths. children, including one third of school age, live on the territory of Ugra. Totally 93% of the total number of children of school age, 64% of socially unprotected categories were covered with organized rest. In the result of actions the number of children having rest on the Autonomous Okrug territory made 58% (54% in 2006), 25% - in climatically favorable zones of Russia (Krasnodarsky Krai, Caucasian Mineral Waters, Gorny Altai), 6% - outside Russia (Bulgaria, Poland, Czech).
