The Okrug Governor’s press-service informs:

January 15, 2007 Garry Brekelmans will be officially appointed in the
position of the Director General of the oil-producing company "Salym
Petroleum Development". The ex-leader of the company Dale Rollins
leaves Ugra and will work in Nigeria.
Yesterday the arrived at Khanty-Mansiysk for the
meeting with Governor of Ugra Alexander Filipenko. Governor expressed
gratitude to Dale Rollins for the work in the Autonomous Okrug: "For a
short period of time you managed to create the oil-producing company
which is dynamically-developing and has good prospects for the future.
The most advanced technologies on the extraction and transportation of
hydrocarbons raw materials, are applied at fields of the company, much
attention is paid to solving problems of ecological safety. "Salym
Petroleum Development" is our reliable social partner. Due to the active
cooperation, the settlement of the company – Salym – acquired a new life,
the facilities of social infrastructure are being constructed at the
settlement, new jobs are created, oilmen participate in financing
socially-important events for the Autonomous Okrug". Alexander Filipenko
expressed confidence that Dale Rollins will remember Ugra with kind
feelings even in far Africa.
Mr. Rollins thanked Governor of the Autonomous Okrug
for the support, rendered by the Ugra Government while the difficult for
the company time of development: "I can say with confidence that I am
leaving this region with the kindest feelings as I have so many friends
here I have done so much with!". Garry Brekelmans assured Alexander
Filipenko that he is in charge now of "the good team, formed by Dale"
and assured that social partnerships which has become an integral part
of the company activity, will be continued on the new level".
At the conclusion of the meeting the interlocutors
exchanged souvenirs and gifts.

The Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug was
represented at the World Tourist Exhibition "World Travel Market-2006",
held in London on November 6-9.
This year 202 countries participated in it. 24 307
people visited the exhibition. Ugra with 17 regions of the country for
the first time participated in this biggest forum of the world. The
united exposition of Russia was organized by the Federal Tourism Agency.
The total area of the Russia’s stand was 400 sq.m where 76 organizations
of the tourist industry were placed – hotels, museums, executive bodies,
responsible for tourism.
The Tourism Committee of the Okrug said that the
visitors were actively interested in materials telling about
opportunities of having a rest in Russia, and the Ugra’s stand attracted
many people. National souvenirs were used while decorating the Okrug
exposition. Tours about culture, events, ethnographic and ecological
tours, fishing tours, active tours around Ugra were presented on the
stand. Tourist routes were presented by the companies "Ugra Service", "Sputnik",
"On Seven Hills", "Khvoiny Urman "Berezovka", Federation of Amateur
Tourism. The tourist product of the Okrug companies caused great
interest of tourist agencies. All the visitors of the Ugra exposition
got advertising packs and CD with the information about the tourist
product of Ugra and also calendars, CD, pens, notepads. The presentation
of the specialized exhibition "UgraTour-2007" was made, negotiations
with representatives of the business and tourist public of foreign
countries. Representatives of big tourist companies accepted the
invitation to participate in the exhibition "UgraTour-2007", Arctic
Council conference "Tourism in Northern countries. Promotion and
development", advertising tour "Beauty of Ugra". Besides, the Tourism
Committee of Ugra participated in the conference "New windows on Russia"
and presentations of Russian regions.
The Okrug stand was viewed by the Ambassador of the
Russian Federation in Great Britain Yuri Fedotov, Councilor of the Trade
Representative Office of Russia in Great Britain Vyacheslav Schedrin.

On November 20 the 2-nd Chess Cup of the Governor
of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra was started at the new
building of the Exhibition Center of Khanty-Mansiysk.

chess-players including 7 international gross-masters and 9
international masters (men), one woman – international master (Evgeniya
Ovod) participate in the open-tournament "B".
As for the membership the tournament corresponds to
the stage of the Chess Cup of Russia. The rating- favorites are
international gross-masters Pavel Kotsur (Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, 2587),
Dmitri Bocharov (Novosibirsk, 2577),
 Maxim
Sorokin (Yekaterinburg, 2561) and Roman Ovechkin (Nizhni Tagil, 2541).
Representatives from the Autonomous Okrug:
Khanty-Mansiysk, Surgut, Nizhnevartovsk, Langepas, Pyt-Yakh, Poikovski,
Urai, Raduzhny and other towns: Tyumen, Tobolsk, Yalutorovsk,
Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhni Tagil, Salekhard, Noyabrsk, Leningrad
Oblast, Moscow Oblast, and also from Kazakhstan (Pavlodar, Kokshetau)
participate in the tournament.
At the opening ceremony of the 2-nd Chess Cup of the
Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra there were present
the President of the Ugra Chess Federation, Chair of the Khanty-Mansiysk
Town Duma Vasili Filipenko, Chair of the Okrug Committee of Physical
Culture and Sport Vladimir Malyshkin, Governor’s Affairs Manager
Alexander Gerber, Chair of the Information Resources Committee Natalia
Maslova, Vice-President of the Khanty-Mansiysk Bank Alexander Smirnov
and etc.
Vasili Filipenko in his welcoming speech to the
tournament participants said that Ugra is one of the most advanced
regions concerning the chess sport development and he was very pleased
that the World Chess Olympiad – 2010 will be held in the town of
Khanty-Mansiysk. He wished participants high achievements, victory and
good luck.
General Sponsor of the Cup is the JSC "Khanty-Mansiysk
Bank". Vice-President of the Bank Alexander Smirnov said that the it was
very pleasant for the Bank to help in hosting chess tournaments as it
raises the Okrug to a new level of such intellectual sport as chess
development.
Sponsors of the competitions are also the
Khanty-Mansiysk construction company, JSC "State Insurance company "Ugoria",
construction firm "Kontek", Executive Direction of the Foundation of
Generations, JSC "Regional timber company "Koda-Les", State enterprise "Severavtodor",
etc.
The Okrug Chess Internet – center (director – Galina
Kovaleva) does much work on organizing and preparation of the Cup. All
the tournaments will be highlighted in the interactive mode on the
